2023 Kenefick Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon
99 POINTS · JEB DUNNUCK
VINEYARD NOTES
Located at the northern edge of Napa Valley in Calistoga, Kenefick Ranch is a benchmark site known for producing wines of structure, character, and distinction. Set on well-drained alluvial soils with gravelly loam and rocky deposits, the vineyard benefits from warm daytime temperatures balanced by cool evening influences, allowing for extended hang time and even ripening.
Meticulously farmed with a focus on quality and sustainability, Kenefick Ranch is particularly renowned for its Cabernet Franc, which thrives in this environment—developing aromatic complexity, refined structure, and a signature balance of richness and lift. The site consistently yields fruit of exceptional purity, making it one of the premier sources for Bordeaux varietals in Napa Valley.
TASTING NOTES
The aromas of the 2023 Kenefick Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon are lush and layered, showcasing ripe blackberries, cocoa nibs, sage and flint. The soft, silky palate reveals rich layers of blackberry jam, cinnamon and warm earth, leading to an elongated finish that echoes the wine’s depth and complexity.
2023 Pozzan Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
97 POINTS · JEB DUNNUCK
VINEYARD NOTES
Pozzan Vineyard has been farmed by the Pozzan family for three generations and was replanted in 2010. Located at the base of Diamond Mountain, the vineyard benefits from morning sun and cool afternoon breezes with a subtle coastal influence. These conditions, combined with iron-rich red Aiken Loam soils, create an ideal environment for Cabernet Sauvignon, producing wines with fresh, tart aromatics, a delicate floral lift, and distinctive complexity.
Frequent marine influence and nightly cooling preserve freshness and contribute to the wine’s vibrant character and nuanced aromatic profile. Outside of the Pozzan family, Elusa is one of only a select few wineries with access to this exceptional vineyard.
TASTING NOTES
The palate is elegant with a soft, silky core and fine-grained tannins. The cooler nature of the site reveals itself through layers of tart berries, juicy ripe plums and a slight savory edge of graphite and warm earth. There’s hints of new oak, adding complimentary layers of vanilla bean and pipe tobacco. This is a beautiful, elegant Cabernet from one of our favorite vineyards in Calistoga.
2023 Armstrong Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon
97 POINTS · JEB DUNNUCK
VINEYARD NOTES
Armstrong Vineyard sits at approximately 900 feet on the terraced slopes of Diamond Mountain above Calistoga. The eastern-facing site receives generous morning sun while avoiding the intensity of the afternoon heat, allowing for slow, even ripening. Thin, well-drained volcanic soils rich in obsidian, diatomaceous earth, and petrified wood force the vines to struggle, contributing to the vineyard’s intensity and depth of character.
Elusa is among the few wineries with access to this exceptional vineyard. The combination of elevation, rugged volcanic soils, and cooling coastal afternoon breezes produces a distinctly mountain-grown Cabernet Sauvignon with concentrated fruit, fresh acidity, savory complexity, and a subtle flinty edge.
TASTING NOTES
On the palate the wine is structured, with grippy mountain tannins. Like the nose, the palate is a swirling mix of savory, dark notes, tart black fruit and a flinty edge that makes the wine feel dark and brooding, yet polished and refined. This is a wine that is just at the beginning of its evolution and should have a long and exciting life ahead.
